About 1979 Revolution: Black Friday
1979 Revolution: Black Friday is an interactive drama developed and published by iNK Stories and directed by Navid Khonsari. It was released on 5 April 2016 for Windows and OS X, followed by iOS, Android and, in 2018, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
You play Reza Shirazi, a young photojournalist who returns to Tehran during the Iranian Revolution. The game opens in 1980 with Reza under interrogation at Evin Prison and then flashes back to 1978 and the events around Black Friday. You make timed dialogue choices, take photographs and react in quick-time sequences, and your decisions shape how the story ends.
Critics praised the narrative, the performances and the historical setting, as Wikipedia summarises. The game won the IndieCade Grand Jury Award, while in Iran it was attacked as Western propaganda and websites distributing it were blocked.
