About Chess
Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a board of 64 squares. Its recorded history begins with chaturanga in 7th century India, the modern rules took shape in Europe at the end of the 15th century and were standardised by the end of the 19th century. Today the game is governed internationally by FIDE and played by millions worldwide (Wikipedia).
Online chess has become a large part of streaming culture. Chess.com runs PogChamps, a series of online amateur tournaments for streamers and internet personalities that started in June 2020 and uses a 10+5 rapid time control with group stages and knockout brackets. The 2025 edition was won by footballer Eberechi Eze, the April 2026 edition, titled PogChamps 6 7, by streamer Jynxzi (Wikipedia).
