Cuphead

Cuphead is a run and gun game focused on boss fights, developed and published by Studio MDHR, the Canadian studio of brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer. It launched on 29 September 2017 for Windows and Xbox One, followed by macOS in 2018, Nintendo Switch in 2019 and PlayStation 4 in 2020 (Wikipedia).

Cuphead and his brother Mugman lose a game of craps to the Devil and have to collect the soul contracts of his runaway debtors to save themselves. The game can be played alone or in local co-op and is known for its high difficulty. Its hand-drawn look with watercolour backgrounds imitates 1930s rubber hose cartoons, backed by a big band jazz soundtrack.

Cuphead sold 6 million copies by mid 2020 and won awards at The Game Awards, the D.I.C.E. Awards and the BAFTAs. The DLC The Delicious Last Course followed in June 2022, and Netflix released The Cuphead Show! in the same year.
