About Old School RuneScape
Old School RuneScape is an MMORPG developed and published by Jagex. It launched on 22 February 2013 for Windows and macOS, based on an August 2007 backup of RuneScape found in the company's archives. Android and iOS versions with cross-platform play followed on 30 October 2018, and the game arrived on Steam in February 2021.
Players train skills, complete quests and fight bosses in a fantasy world. What sets it apart is its polling system: most content updates go to an in-game vote and only ship if they reach a set approval threshold, currently 70 percent. Ironman and Hardcore Ironman modes as well as temporary Leagues offer alternative rule sets, and Sailing became the first new skill in November 2025.
According to Wikipedia, the game reached a record of more than 241,000 concurrent players in August 2025.
