About Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a third-person action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom and directed by Satoru Nihei. It was released on 4 September 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S, three weeks earlier than first planned. It is a new entry in Capcom's Onimusha series.
The protagonist is the swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, whose likeness is modelled on the actor Toshiro Mifune. After a duel in 1604 he is killed by demonic Genma and brought back with a sentient Oni Gauntlet. In a dark fantasy version of Edo-period Kyoto he hunts Genma and seals their rifts, while rivals such as Sasaki Ganryu and the villain Minamoto no Yoshitsune stand in his way.
Reviews were generally favorable, and the game sold over one million copies on launch day, according to Wikipedia.
