About RuneScape: Dragonwilds
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a cooperative open world survival game developed and published by Jagex, built in Unreal Engine 5. It was announced on 31 March 2025 and surprise launched into Steam Early Access on 15 April 2025. The full release followed on 15 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 (Jagex, Wikipedia).
The game is a spin-off of the MMORPG RuneScape, but Jagex stresses that it is not an MMO. You play solo or with up to three friends on the continent of Ashenfall in the world of Gielinor. You gather resources, level RuneScape-style skills, build a base, cast survival spells, explore dungeons and face dragons. Creative and Hardcore modes are included.
Dragonwilds sold more than 600,000 copies in its first Early Access week and passed one million by June 2026.
