About Rust
Rust is a multiplayer survival game developed and published by Facepunch Studios. It entered Steam Early Access in December 2013 and was fully released on 8 February 2018 for Windows and macOS. Console versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One followed in May 2021, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in June 2025 (Wikipedia).
Rust began as a clone of the DayZ mod and moved away from zombies towards wildlife and conflict between players. You start with almost nothing, manage hunger, thirst and health, gather resources, craft tools and weapons and build a base. The biggest threat is other players: many band together in clans, and raiding other bases is central to the game. Servers are wiped on a regular schedule, so everyone starts over.
Rust had sold nearly 12.5 million copies by the end of 2021.
