About Starbound
Starbound is a 2D action adventure sandbox game developed and published by Chucklefish. It entered Steam Early Access in December 2013 and was fully released on 22 July 2016 for Windows, macOS and Linux. Versions for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S followed on 24 October 2024 (Wikipedia).
You begin as a freshly graduated member of the Terrene Protectorate who escapes the destruction of Earth and drifts through space in a small ship. From there you explore a procedurally generated universe of planets, mining, crafting and fighting along the way. You can build settlements and rent rooms to NPCs, farm, terraform worlds and, since update 1.3, pilot mechs. The game supports both single-player and multiplayer.
Starbound had sold over 2.5 million copies by December 2016.
