About The First Descendant
The First Descendant is a free-to-play third-person looter shooter developed and published by Nexon. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it was released on 2 July 2024 for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions that were supported until June 2025 (Wikipedia).
Players control Descendants, characters with one passive and four active skills, and set out from the hub Albion into story missions. A large weapon arsenal and a mod system allow detailed builds. The highlight fights are Void Intercept Battles against giant Colossi, which can be tackled in co-op. The game topped Steam's best-seller chart at launch and reached 10 million players in its first week, while critics gave it mixed reviews (57 on Metacritic for PC) and players criticised grinding and microtransactions.
