BadgeBase in August 2026: a level system for everything
Changelog ยท 2026-08-04 ยท Updated: 2026-08-21
In July the badge archive became a community site. August gives it something that ties it all together: a level that grows no matter what you do. Here is what the month brought.
๐๏ธ The BadgeBase Level
Every profile now shows a level, top-left. It climbs the more active you are around BadgeBase and adds up a lot of things: collecting badges, unlocking achievements, subscribing and gifting subs, donating, bringing friends via your referral link, logging in daily and commenting. Each tier costs more than the last, so the curve keeps getting steeper.
The tiers are ๐ฑ Rookie, ๐๏ธ Collector, ๐ก๏ธ Veteran, โ๏ธ Elite, ๐ Master, ๐ Grandmaster and ๐ Legend. How you earn points is in the FAQ โ the exact values I deliberately keep to myself so the level can't be farmed. You can watch your progress and latest activity in the login area.
๐ The XP Leaderboard
Where there's a level, there should be a ranking: the XP Leaderboard ranks everyone by level. Unlike raw badge count, it rewards variety โ collect, comment, support and bring friends, and you sit higher than someone who only does one of those.
๐พ Discord: Chatter, Master and /badges
Link your Twitch account with Discord and you now earn two new achievements for being active in the server: Discord Chatter (level 5) and Discord Master (level 20). It syncs automatically.
And there's a real slash command: /badges shows a user's badge count and level right in Discord โ yours or someone else's. It runs entirely on our own data.
๐ Achievements: from 52 to 65
Thirteen new ones arrived, including the two Discord achievements above, and the whole wall was reordered: the level up front, then support, community and collection milestones in an order that reads top to bottom. The old "Early Adopter" is now ๐ฆ Unicorn with a real badge as its icon.
๐น๏ธ Here and gone: the arcade
On August 1st a little arcade with mini-games and its own achievement went live. By August 4th it was gone: too many people gamed the leaderboards because the score could be faked client-side. It may return properly server-verified โ but not like that.
๐ Pro, ๐ feature voting and more
Along the way: Pro Membership with its own settings, a ๐๐ on every changelog entry (so I know what lands), tidier leaderboard chips and a quieter notification bell.
๐ฐ Two blog series
Two monthly series grow in the blog: the August 2026 badges (every global badge of the month) and the Twitch monthly recap.
๐ฅ Burn for XP: a repeatable reward
If you watch on badgebase_de, you can now turn channel points into XP: Burn for XP costs 1000 channel points and gives you +100 XP, or +110 as a Pro member. The best part: it is repeatable, so grind as much as you like, and you unlock the new ๐ฅ Burn for XP achievement along the way. Every redemption shows up right in the activity feed and in your personal XP overview.
๐ Cheer Bits, earn XP
And hot off the press: cheering Bits or Power-ups on badgebase_de now earns XP too. The math is simple: every 100 Bits gives you 1,000 XP. To make the race worthwhile there is a brand-new Bits leaderboard you can cheer your way up, plus a dedicated ๐ Bits Booster badge to unlock. Your cheer is celebrated live in chat and then shows up on your profile and in your XP overview. More badge slots are already teased for what comes next.
๐ฅ A livelier chat
The badgebase_de chat now reacts in real time. Anyone who follows gets a shout-out, and the bot quietly checks whether you already own the current featured badge, nudging you if not. Burning channel points on Burn for XP gets celebrated too, with a link to the matching leaderboard. If you want to be there from the very start when a new badge drops, the Badge Alert emails you the moment a new global badge goes live.
Discord got livelier as well: when a Hype Train starts on the channel, the server now announces it automatically, at the start, on every 5th level and whenever a new all-time record falls. So nobody misses the moment things really kick off.
๐ฌ Badge comments paused
And to close, something honest: we are pulling the comment section on individual badges again for now. The idea was lovely, namely user-generated content in the shape of good questions and helpful answers. What mostly turned up in the end was comment spam, and honestly I can't blame anyone for that. ๐ Comments on the blog stay exactly as they were, and if there is demand we can bring them back to the badges any time.
๐ฌ Chat commands in the stream
The badgebase_de chat talks back now: !rank shows your badge rank, !missing which badges you still need for the current drop, !streak your login streak and !xp your level progress. And typing #checkin credits you XP once a day without leaving chat.
๐น๏ธ The Arcade is back, done right this time
After the quick shutdown in early August, the Arcade returned, now with server-checked scores so the leaderboards can't be faked anymore. Included: the guessing game Badge Atlas and a wheel of fortune you spin once a day for XP (jackpot 10,000). Every high score earns XP and feeds the Arcade achievement.
๐บ๏ธ Daily Quests
Five small daily tasks now sit site-wide in the footer: log in, view a badge, check in on chat and so on. Done means XP, and once all five are cleared the widget hides itself until the next day.
๐ค Watchtime counts
Hanging out in the badgebase_de chat now banks hours automatically: every hour earns XP, and past certain marks you unlock Lurker achievements. Your watchtime shows on the Lurker leaderboard.
โ๏ธ Raids count, Discord claims daily
Two community things on top: a Top Raider leaderboard for everyone who raids the channel (plus a Raider achievement), and on Discord a daily /claim in the #commands channel that pays XP just like #checkin. Take both and you level up fastest.
๐ Badge Alert moves into your account, ๐ Weekly by mail
The Badge Alert now runs straight through your account: one click in the login area, no email to type, and you get notified the moment a new global badge goes live. New on top: a weekly recap by mail, every Sunday, with your level, your new badges and what's coming up. Both switchable off in settings anytime.
๐พ Discord shows who's around
The Discord page now shows active members with their avatars (subscribers first) and, below that, what the server gets you. VIP now means the same thing everywhere, on the site and in Discord.
๐ฐ Achievements fill up, with a jackpot
The achievement wall got a progress bar, and right at the end a jackpot waits for anyone who unlocks (almost) everything. Plus a public Kick badges API and Discord streak reminders that keep long streaks alive. The full, running list lives in the Changelog as always.
๐ค The BadgeBase bot for any Discord
The single /badges command has grown into a real bot, and you can now add it to your own Discord. /list shows the current and upcoming Twitch badges as a live card, /badges a user's collection and level, /leaderboard the ranking, all right in chat. The new bot page explains what it does and how to add it. Add it to a server and you unlock the Bot Wrangler achievement plus an extra entry for the giveaway.
๐๏ธ More ways to earn a giveaway entry
The Turbo Giveaway got new actions: following Wuestenigel on Kick, reaching BadgeBase Level 10, and adding the bot to your server all count as an extra entry now. Most of them verify themselves once you meet the condition.
๐ How rare is your achievement?
New and still in beta: the achievement overview ranks every achievement by rarity, so you can see how many collectors own each one. Every achievement also has its own detail page with an explanation of how to earn it, its rank, and the people who already have it. The numbers grow with every profile that gets viewed.
๐งฉ Extension achievement made fairer
The Extension User achievement now counts usage over the last 30 days instead of 7. So if you have the Twitch extension installed, you keep it even with occasional use.
What's next
The level is just the start. I'm still tuning the weights, sub loyalty counts monthly from September 1st, and a few achievements are still waiting for their trigger. Wishes and ideas in the Discord as always.
