Diablo II

Diablo II is an action role-playing hack and slash game developed by Blizzard North and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It was released for Windows in North America on 28 June 2000 and for Mac OS in July 2000 (Wikipedia).

You choose one of five classes, Amazon, Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorceress or Paladin, and follow the trail of Diablo across four acts, fighting through randomly generated areas and collecting loot. The 2001 expansion Lord of Destruction added the Druid and Assassin classes and a fifth act. The remaster Diablo II: Resurrected was released on 23 September 2021 for PC and consoles, and a 2026 expansion for Resurrected, Reign of the Warlock, added the Warlock class.

Diablo II sold one million copies within two weeks, which Guinness recognised as the fastest-selling computer game at the time, and won Game of the Year at the 2001 D.I.C.E. Awards.
